Rectors - History of Rectors of Halsall
A history of the Rectors of Halsall is probably available from several sources : this webpage credits the information included in Canon W. Herbert Bullough’s booklet published 31st October 1984 to commemorate the 25th Anniverary of his induction.
Cannon Bullough has listed records back to “Robert” c. 1190 . We are unlikely to find much biographical information about the earliest rectors and their patrons but they are included for completeness. There are some missing records prior to 1495. This is the same table as presented in the History of County of Lancaster Vol 3, section of Halsall c. 1907.
What is clear from the table is the patronage ( the advowson) was held by successive generations of the Halsall family and more recently by several generations of the Blundell family. A Jonathan Blundell purchased the Adowson in 1800.
