William Littlewood (1860-1906)

William Littlewood  LRR8-WL8 took over the running of the Saracen’s with his wife Margery in 1905. William was born in 1860 in Dodworth, Yorkshire to Sarah and Joseph Littlewood, a coal miner. William worked as a blacksmith and married Margery Neale KFGZ-T9J in 1891 at Walton on the Hill (Formby) which is where Margery’s family were from. Their first home together was in Tranmere, Cheshire although by 1901 they had moved to Rock Ferry, William still working as a blacksmith. They didn’t have any children.

By 1905 they had moved to Halsall to work at the Saracen’s. Only 18 months later however, William died on 29th October 1906 in Southport. He was buried at St. Peter’s church in Formby.
